POWERS & ABILITIES: Rei not only has powers as a Sailor Guardian, but she also has outside abilities of a Miko Priestess. Though she uses both forms of her powers, whether she's transformed or not.
Powers as Miko Priestess:
Youma Taisan - Meaning ‘Demons Disperse’, this attack is similar to Mars’s Fire Soul attack, for she summons a ball of flames between her palms and then casts the flames toward her enemy.
Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) - Rei could read flames (fire reading) and often led her to have premonitions about upcoming events, and she had a stronger "sixth sense" than most of the other Senshi.
Akuryo Taisan - Rei learned the chant as a miko and not as a Sailor Guardian; she could also use it while untransformed. "Akuryo Taisan" is a Japanese phrase used to exorcise demons, which translates into "Evil Spirit, Begone." To perform the technique, Rei would yell, "Akuryo Taisan," and place an ofuda on the enemy. Sometimes she would also chant the names of the kuji — "Rin, Pyo, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen!" when combined into a sentence, it literally means "all warriors have been lined up in formation here") — before performing the attack. Usually, it was used to immobilize an enemy, giving the Senshi time to attack, but it could also be used to purify people of an evil influence.
Powers as Sailor Mars:
Mars Henshin Pen - This was Rei's henshin pen that allowed her to transform into Super Sailor Mars by shouting 'Mars Power, Make Up!' while holding it up in the air. She then held the pen over her chest, and long tongues of flame emitted from the Pen and formed fiery rings that passed down over her body. The rings tightened to form her entire outfit. Sailor Mars was then fully transformed, finishing with her classic pose.
Burning Mandala - In this attack, Sailor Mars rotates her left arm once in a clockwise direction, with fire gushing out of her hand. The fire condenses into 8 balls of fire around her, and Sailor Mars directs the balls at her enemy. The balls explode and cause great damage on impact.
Mars Fire Snake - To perform this attack, Sailor Mars summoned fire and surrounded herself. She then absorbed it in her hand and threw the fire from her enemy, which later formed in the shape of a snake and attacked her enemies.
PERSONALITY: Rei is a very strong-willed girl who learned at an early age how to take care of herself. With her mother and father gone, and just her grandfather to rely on, she had to be. She has a very strong moral compass and hates to see others being bullied. She will always stand up to bullies, even putting herself in danger to do so. She has been known to even stand up to several older delinquents at the same time and still come out on top, thanks to her former tomboy ways that taught her how to fight when she was in elementary school. Not only will she not back down from a fight, but she also will not back down from any other type of challenge either. It doesn't matter to her what the challenge is, as they are all the same to her. She takes her duties as a miko very seriously, and whenever she is not in one of her clubs, which her grandfather encouraged her to take part in, she can be found at the shrine, helping her grandfather or worshipers out. Although she doesn't make friends easily and has very few, she is extremely devoted to the ones that she does have. She is willing to do anything and everything for them, even when she doesn't necessarily feel that what they want is a good idea. In cases like these, before joining, she will typically try to talk said friend out of the bad idea first. Rei's also shown some musical talent of her own and has a deep passion for music, including playing the piano, singing, and composing songs.
Overall, Rei is very calm, cool, and collected. Some people would (and have) called her cold due to her personality, and think that she is quite stuck up because she is not much of a joiner and does not possess many friends, nor does she talk much in public outside of class and club activities. Despite this, she also possesses a temper that is akin to her natural element of fire. Although it doesn't come out frequently, when she does lose her temper, all hell can break loose. She finds it difficult to deal with people who are overly immature or bubbly, mostly because she can't really relate to them. As such, she has had many disagreements with girls her age, thanks to their differing opinions. She also dislikes it when people, especially girls, brag about the things that they have. To her, this is quite annoying because she doesn't see the reason for them throwing those things in the faces of others who may not be so fortunate. She's also not overly fond of weak men and refuses to date anyone weaker than she is. However, in general, she has little interest in dating at this stage, thanks to attending an all-girls school and being raised primarily by her grandfather. This is in contrast to many of the girls at her school, and one of the things that she finds herself at odds with them about. Another reason why she does not like weak men is because of her issues with her father, who abandoned her when she was young.

APPEARANCE: Rei is 5'3'' with long black hair and deep purple eyes. She wears basically the same type of outfits as Minako does, but she tries to give off a more sophisticated look when wearing shorts, pants, skirts, dresses, high heels, tennis shoes, and sometimes boots. When at the Hikawa Shrine, she is always dressed in her Miko outfit unless she is going out, when she will wear something more casual. She attends school at T-A and therefore wears the required uniform for her grade level. As Sailor Mars, she wears a Sailor fuku with a red skirt and high heels. She has a dark red ribbon above the back of her skirt and a dark purple ribbon on her chest. Just like the other Sailor Senshi, she wears a tiara on her forehead, with a stone of her signature color (dark red in Sailor Mars' case) in the center of it. Super Sailor Mars I
HISTORY: Rei transforms into the Passionate Fighter, Sailor Mars. Rei is a stubborn and short-tempered Shinto fire priestess, skilled in martial arts combat and meditation techniques. She attended tenth grade at 'T-A Private Girls Academy' in Tokyo, Japan, where she is very popular and well-liked. Rei's use of ofuda (anti-evil ward scrolls) is not connected with her Sailor identity, but with her training as a priestess and her knowledge of the supernatural. It did not help matters that both Rei and Usagi had shared an interest in Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Kamen).
But when she was transported to Domino City with the rest of the Guardians, she met a guy named Seto Kaiba, and she started having crushes and fantasies about him due to his strong and confident personality. Though he never liked Rei that way, and Usagi and Jasmine's cousin Ryoko Kajimotou liked him as well. However, she came on a little bit too strongly for Seto's liking. She was upset for a while when she found out that he was interested in Jasmine. However, her anger didn't last long, and she eventually got over Seto. Rei has a massive manga collection, is an accomplished singer/songwriter, and a talented skier.
