POWERS & ABILITIES:
Millennium Puzzle – The Millennium Puzzle was originally named the Millennium Pendant before it was shattered and required assembly; it came to be known as the Millennium Puzzle. This item was one among the seven items that were forged 3000 years ago to protect Egypt from attackers. However, the Pharaoh of Egypt had locked his spirit and memories in it; this spirit goes by the name of Yami Yuugi or "My Other Self as Yuugi calls him, and can take control over Yuugi Motou's body. The item has quite a few mysterious abilities, such as fulfilling one wish of the person who solved it, granting its owner's chance of success in a game, judging by their skill as well as the importance of the game at hand. The hieroglyphics inscribed on the puzzle say, "The one who solves me shall gain the powers and knowledge of darkness..." It is also able to initiate Shadow Games and corresponding Penalty Games that Yami Yuugi used to punish those who harmed Yuugi or his friends. It is also shown to have the power to interfere with the powers of other Millennium Items, such as when Yami Bakura put Bakura's soul inside of Change of Heart, but Yami Yuugi changed it to Yami Bakura's soul in the card.

PERSONALITY: Yuugi's main hobby is dueling, with solving games and puzzles coming in second. It was his grandfather Sugoroku Motou who had taught him how to play Duel Monsters as well as learning how to solve puzzles, not just for the sake of curing his boredom but because he loved a challenge. The same goes for Yuugi as well. He is an exceptionally skilled duelist, able to beat the creator of Duel Monsters himself, earning him the title of the 'King of Games'. He is also intrigued by learning more about ancient Egyptian history, especially when it concerns Yami Yuugi, the spirit within the Millennium Puzzle that he possesses and the history of the item itself. He also likes to make friends rather than enemies, even though he has quite a few dueling rivals from the time he spent on Duelist Kingdom. His friends from school, he is very protective of and grateful for having at the same time, wishing no harm to fall before them and will do what he can to keep them safe. He enjoys being around them to a point where it has become recognizable that he is friends with Honda, Jonouchi, Anzu, and Miho, and Yami Yuugi included. He is very kind-hearted, not someone you would find bragging about anything, no matter how good he is at something. Instead, he would encourage others and give them helpful advice if need be. He is not one to hold lifelong grudges like most people would, as he's forgiving when someone admits and apologizes for their mistakes.

APPEARANCE: Yuugi is 5'1'' with extremely extravagant hair features multiple layers including long blond crooked, pointy locks for his fringe, the rest features a set of five large spikes and two smaller spikes colored black with a magenta sheen along the edges and round violet eyes. He is almost always seen wearing the boys' uniform for Domino High School that was basically just an all-over blue jacket and pantsuit and a closed, buckled collar around his neck, along with wearing the Millennium Puzzle around it as well. Later on, he'd attached a chain to it. He's worn a variety of clothes, such as when he'd dueled against Ryuji Otogi, he sported a black long-sleeved shirt, a gray sleeveless vest, dark blue pants, and black shoes. When he hung out with Anzu one last time, he wore a black linen shirt and several pieces of wrist chains, along with a pair of leather pants.

HISTORY: Yuugi Motou, originally born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, to parents Yuji Motou and Naomi Motou, is not known for his academic smarts but has excellent gaming abilities, having been taught by his grandfather, Sugoroku Motou. He was born a happy child, but very lonely due to his father being away on business and his mother and grandfather leaving to take care of him. As such, he'd, like most kids, resorted to making friends in his neighborhood. That was when he'd met and gotten to know the Tsukino family children before his father landed a good job, which resulted in him having to move away to Domino. Because Yuugi's father frequently travels for work, so he's left in the care of his grandfather and mother. Yuugi kept in touch with the Tsukino family, especially Jasmine, who had become his girlfriend when they became older. He was fully aware of her and her twin sister Usagi being Sailor Guardians. However, he never revealed their identities to anyone. Not even his friends in Domino. Of course, after a while he had received the Millennium Puzzle from his grandfather and had finally solved it, awakening the spirit that lives inside it that he addresses as "The Other Me". In the beginning, he was unaware of the spirit's presence, but always felt something was off because he couldn't remember certain situations. His mind often drew a blank when bad things happened. However, it was due to his interactions with Seto Kaiba that Yuugi became more aware of the Spirit, and the two of them would work together during dangerous situations. This would include helping Yuugi rescue his grandfather's soul back from Pegasus J. Crawford, who'd stolen it along with Seto's and Mokuba's.

After the events of Duelist Kingdom, things were fine. Quiet and normal. The antics of normal school life happened, then were followed by a new enemy the Sailor Guardians were fighting that dragged them to Domino with no explanation. However, Yuugi called all his friends to assist him with temporary housing until they figured out what was going on. The drama that started from that point on involved a classmate, Juria Kase. She was a very rich and powerful student, similar to Seto Kaiba, but minus being involved in the game of Duel Monsters. She frequently used her wealth and power to make students' lives at Domino High miserable. Naturally, Juria never bothered him, but she did start messing with Jasmine. There was a strange obsession Yuugi noticed in Juria: wanting to put his girlfriend down, along with her sister and friends. Jasmine found Juria annoying and hardly acknowledged her because she didn't want to get involved, but wasn't against the idea of trolling. Which Yuugi found amusing but told her not to do something that would put a target on her back. At the same time, his friend Anzu Mazaki was going through a lot of things at home, dealing with her mother and her antics. Yuugi did his best to offer her advice. The obvious being that Anzu needed to get out of that house and take her younger sister and cousin with her. She couldn't leave them in that house. Yes, Yuugi was friends with Anzu Mazaki, the girl that everyone believed slept with rich men. Yuugi knew that wasn't true because he'd been friends with her when he moved to Domino with his family.

But because a lot of delinquent students attended Domino High, it wasn't hard to manipulate other students into believing baseless rumors with no evidence. Jasmine understood, but wasn't backing down if Juria got petty and started bothering her friends and her sister. He understood, but was still concerned. Later in the story, Anzu starts stressing out more about her home and work life. Both are stressing her out, and she needed comfort from Yuugi. He was her friend and, of course, did that. However, this led to the two of them kissing, which was initiated by Anzu. Yuugi was confused and carefully pulled away. Saying that kiss was a mistake and couldn't happen again. He loved his girlfriend. Anzu understood and apologized to him. Saying she'd done it out of wanting comfort. She hadn't expected him to respond. She knew he was dating Jasmine and had no intentions of breaking them up. Yuugi believed her, knowing that Anzu was struggling to figure out what her next steps were after graduation. He knew she wanted to pursue dancing in the US and always told her that was a wonderful dream and she should do it.

He also knew that it was getting harder for her to deal with her mother, who sometimes takes half of her work pay. It didn't help that she had to hide the fact that she was working; otherwise she would get in trouble. There were only certain students with special situations who could work. While Yuugi felt that Anzu's situation was somewhat similar to Jonouchi's, where he had no choice but to work because he lived on his own after leaving his alcoholic father's place, the school wouldn't see it that way. Plus, some teachers already had their opinions about Anzu, and he wished he could do more. The downside to this incident involved Jasmine having seen the two of them kissing. While both Yuugi and Anzu apologized to her, it hurt to see him kissing another girl. Yuugi knew that. He wasn't downplaying it or making excuses and asked if Jasmine could forgive him. Anzu continuously apologized to Jasmine as well. But Jasmine couldn't trust either of them. She accepted the apology from the two of them, but said her relationship with Yuugi was over. That hurt him more than anything, but he understood, and he didn't fight her on it.

What happened after that involved Yuugi having to deal with a new evil trying to take his Millennium Puzzle again. This new person was Malik Ishtar. However, he didn't know this in the beginning. Yuugi just knew that he couldn't let Malik take his puzzle and use it to hurt others with its power. At the same time, the Sailor Guardians were also dealing with the enemy who called herself Sailor Galaxia, who was after star seeds. That began ramping up around the city and especially at the schools they attended and places they worked where people were attacked for their star seeds. Even though his relationship with Jasmine had ended, he remained friends with the Sailor Guardians and her sister, Usagi. He also had to enter the Battle City Tournament that Seto Kaiba had thrown, as well as Malik's hunters had broken into the system to enter and steal powerful cards from duelists. He was basically using this as a distraction from having to think about his former relationship with Jasmine. Even the spirit in the puzzle, Yami, had told him they both handled it fine. And even if his relationship with Jasmine was over, his life isn't.

To keep moving forward, he'll be there when he needs to talk. He didn't believe Anzu or Jasmine had any ill intentions toward him, but breaking someone's trust comes at a price. That needed to be understood. Yuugi said he knew that, even if he was worried about how Sakura would be born if he and Jasmine weren't dating anymore. Yami told him that it is a bridge that will be crossed later on. Yuugi faced difficult high-stakes duels against different duelists who worked for Malik, and each one of them lost. At the same time, Jasmine had fallen in love with someone else. That someone was Seto. Admittedly, he was heartbroken discovering that, but he noticed she seemed happy with him. The only person upset about it was Usagi and, partially, their mother, Diane. Usagi's reason for being upset was her worrying about Sakura not being born. He understood that too, but he wasn't going to force Jasmine to be with him. He'd even privately told Usagi what happened. That Jasmine had accept his and Anzu. It seemed Usagi wasn't hearing it. Even their friends were split on it. Not Yuugi's friends but Usagi and Jasmine's friends, the Sailor Guardians. Half of them agreed that nobody could force Jasmine to be with Yuugi just for Sakura to be born, and the others were neutral about it. Understanding what happened and why Jasmine felt the way she did.

They also knew that there were other ways for Sakura to be born. It just didn't have to be Yuugi as her father. Yuugi had assumed that in the beginning but hadn't said anything. That it wouldn't be impossible for Sakura to be born, Yuugi just wouldn't be her father. As for the battle involving Sailor Galaxia and all her henchmen, that had been dealt with, and now it was Yuugi who had to defeat Malik and save the world from harm. Which he did. Some events happened before Malik's defeat which involved the finalists of the tournament and friends who wanted to tag along and watch. It was packed. One detour had him and everyone else being held hostage in a virtual world by a young boy named Noa. It was during this that Yuugi discovered the real reasons behind why Usagi and Diane were against Jasmine dating Seto. It turns out that Diane had a child with Seto's stepfather, Gozaburo Kaiba. Noa was also the firstborn son of Gozaburo from his previous marriage. Originally, wanting to use Seto as a body for Noa, Gozaburo had decided in the end to take Seto's body for himself because he wanted desperately to get out of the virtual world he called a prison. This didn't happen as Yuugi and everyone who got trapped were able to defeat Noa, the Big 5 members who declared revenge against Seto, and Gozaburo.

They were able to escape the virtual world and return to the blimp to continue the final battleground of the tournament for the remaining finalists, which were him, Jonouchi, Malik, and Seto. That experience was eventful for Yuugi, but he pulled Usagi and Diane aside and told them both to let Jasmine be happy with Seto. She deserves that. Having learned that Seto, Mokuba, Usagi, and Jasmine's memories were erased to forget each other, he found that terrible. Stating it should've never happened. But it did, and they have to live with it. They seemed to realize that and agreed to accept Jasmine's choice to be with Seto, even if it hurt. They apologized to him for getting caught in the middle of it, but Yuugi assured them he wasn't upset with them. He'll always care about them and hopes that wouldn't change despite what has happened. They said it wouldn't, but Usagi found it difficult to apologize to everyone but did so. That's all Yuugi wanted. The tournament proceeded and ended with Malik's defeat and the world being saved. Yuugi received all three Egyptian God Cards as per the rules of the tournament. The first one he received from Malik through dueling one of his puppets named Strings. That card was Osiris. The second he received from Seto during the second round of the finals. The third was from Malik himself once he was able to fight the evil spirit inhabiting his mind and body.

Once things settled, everyone returned to Domino, parting. Meanwhile, Yuugi and his friends returned to school. Yuugi and everyone graduated, having decided on careers and universities to attend. Yuugi had decided on wanting to study at Daruma University because he wanted to create a game that everyone could enjoy. He also wished Jasmine and Seto the best and congratulated them on the baby. Yes, Jasmine was pregnant, and Yuugi wasn't upset. He wanted her to be happy, more than anything. Yuugi's ending in the story is him heading to university and still helping his grandfather run the Card Shop. The Sailor Guardians decided to stay and live in Domino, and he continues his friendship with all of them.
