In any other situation, Yuugi Motou looks is a short, rather shy, but otherwise friendly high school junior. But once his dueling deck is in his hands, you begin to see the talent he possesses. For his age, he holds surprising skill, as his friends will attest. Yuugi lives with his grandfather in Japan, Sugoroku Motou, who owns and runs a trading card shop and is himself an authority on Duel Monsters. His own dueling deck contains special cards from his grandfather's collection. He also received from Sugoroku a mystical artifact called the Millennium Puzzle: then incomplete. It took his eight years to complete it. He also has a girlfriend named Jasmine Tsukino. But that relationship didn't last long when he cheated on her with Anzu Mazaki. He did try and beg for her to get back with him but she said no. She fell in love with his rival, Seto Kaiba. He was totally heartbroken when he found out that she was engaged to him and was expecting a baby. So Yuugi is now with Anzu.
